We Are UGI: Honoring Veterans This Holiday Season
19 Dec 2024
Each December, on National Wreaths Across America Day, the Wreaths Across America organization’s mission is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at cemeteries across the county. Through the ceremonies, participants remember the fallen, honor those who serve and their families, as well as teach children the value of freedom.
UGI employees and their families have made a tradition of participating in Wreaths Across America ceremonies across our service territory to honor veterans in their community. This year, employees visited 15 cemeteries to lay wreaths on veterans’ final resting place and speak their names to keep their memory alive.
“This event gave me a bigger sense of respect for those veterans who have passed on and may have no one to visit their forever resting place during the holidays,” says UGI employee Brandy T. “It warmed my heart to do this for them and show them they are still loved and respected.”
UGI’s Veteran Employee Team (VET) also sponsored wreaths at each location. VET is an employee resource group that brings together military veteran employees and supporters to strengthen UGI and positively impact the communities in which we live and work. Over the last few months, UGI’s VET chapters raised money to benefit organizations and fundraisers such as Stop Soldier Suicide and Miles for MilitaryShare, in addition to Wreaths Across America.
Veterans are also honored and acknowledged at UGI’s Learning Center in Reading where a recognition wall serves as a visible tribute and thank you to UGI veterans for their service and sacrifice to preserve our freedoms.
UGI is proud to support and honor our military veterans and their service to our country.
