We’re Prepared for Winter Storm Season
27 Nov 2024
Winter is here, and that means the potential for storms. In the event of an outage, UGI uses a step-by-step outage restoration process on par with electric utility industry standards when a significant weather event causes severe damage to our electric system.
Step 1: Prepare Resources
UGI is constantly monitoring the weather. In advance of a potential severe weather event, UGI activates our Storm Operations Center and begins to carefully prepare for the storm and its potential effects.
Step 2: Wait for Safe Conditions
Depending on the severity of the storm impacting the UGI service territory, UGI and contractor crews may stand down for safety reasons and respond only to imminent danger situations.
Step 3: Work to Restore Power
Once it is safe to begin work, repair resources and storm response teams are dispatched to efficiently assess damage, repair facilities, and restore power.
If you are without power:
- Call UGI at 800-276-2722 to report the outage, including any outage-related emergencies such as downed power lines. Remember to always stay away from downed power lines.
- For your safety and to ensure your issues are addressed as soon as possible, please do not use social media or email to report outages or electrical emergencies.
- If you know anyone who is without power and needs aid, please contact us at 800-272-2722.
- If you depend on medical equipment for life support, we recommend you purchase a back-up power supply or arrange to stay with family or friends.
- Visit the UGI Electric Outage Center for updates.
