Budget Billing

Even Out Your Payments for Easier Budgeting

  1. Payments & Billing
  2. Budget Billing

If your natural gas or electric usage varies widely from month to month or is seasonal, Budget Billing may be a good option for you. Budget Billing is a free service which allows you to spread your UGI Utilities natural gas or electric costs evenly throughout the year.

Enrollment Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in a Budget Billing Plan:

  • Your account must be active with no past due balance.
  • Your account cannot be enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program (CAP).
  • Your account must have a residential or small commercial rate category.

Here’s How Budget Billing Works

UGI Utilities will estimate your annual charges and spread them evenly over the Budget Billing Plan period to calculate your Budget Billing Amount. This Budget Billing Amount may be adjusted up or down every three billing periods based on changes in your actual charges and/or UGI Utilities rates. If you do not make your payment on time, UGI may remove you from the Budget Billing Plan.

When you reach the 12th billing period of your Budget Billing Plan period, UGI will compare your actual charges to the total of your Budget Billing Amounts to determine your Budget Close Out Balance.

  • If your actual charges are greater than the total of your Budget Billing Amounts, you will owe UGI your Budget Close Out Balance.
    • If your Budget Close Out Balance is greater than $100, you can ask UGI to spread this balance over several billing periods.
  • If your actual charges are less than the total of your Budget Billing Amounts, UGI will credit your Budget Close Out Balance to your account.

UGI will automatically renew your plan with a new Budget Billing Amount for your next budget year.
