Square footage is a key factor in calculating your energy costs, so it is important to enter an accurate figure. If you are unsure of the square footage of your building, you can get a rough idea by measuring the length and width of the building. The Length × Width × Number of Floors will give a good estimate of building area in square feet.
Good:
Building constructed or insulation upgraded in the past 15 years.
Average:
Building constructed 16-25 years ago and insulation not upgraded.
Poor:
Building constructed more than 25 years ago and insulation not upgraded.
This is the number of days the building sees 'typical' occupancy per week.
Operating hours include hours when the building is being used. For example, an office building is typically occupied from 7 AM to 6 PM (11 hours), a grocery store may be occupied from 5 AM to midnight (19 hours), and a convenience store may be occupied 24/7 (24 hours).
