UGI Helps Keep Customers Warm with Increased Energy Assistance

When the federal government shutdown delayed funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), UGI responded by adding $500,000 to its Operation Share Fund.

The additional funding increased UGI’s yearly total to $1.7 million to help customers having trouble paying their bills. UGI employees also once again stepped up, donating $17,000 to the fund.

Now LIHEAP is funded and applications are being accepted. LIHEAP provides grants from $200 to $1,000 based on household size, income, and fuel type. You do not need unpaid bills to apply for LIHEAP. Apply online at www.compass.state.pa.us or in person at a county assistance office.

Last heating season, nearly 23,000 UGI customers received LIHEAP grants totaling more than $8.9 million in heating assistance.

In addition to LIHEAP and Operation Share, UGI offers other help to income-eligible customers, including the Customer Assistance Program and the Low-Income Usage Reduction Program.

Two Months, Thousands Helped

In October and November, UGI provided nearly 3,300 Operation Share grants totaling more than $847,000. That’s 1,000 more grants than were distributed during UGI’s entire 2025 fiscal year.
