We Are UGI: Fostering the Future Workforce
23 Feb 2026
UGI Utilities is dedicated to making a concentrated investment into the future potential workforce. We are committed to building future leaders by supporting programs that teach students the necessary skills to enter the workforce.
We are proud to partner with SkillsUSA District 11, which is a career and technical student organization that aims to fill the ongoing skills gap, where more highly skilled jobs are available than skilled professionals ready to fill them.
SkillsUSA Council District 11, based in the Lehigh Valley area, recently hosted their Championship event which brought hundreds of students to the Allentown Fairgrounds to show off their skills and compete in contests of skill, ability, and creativity. Celebrating its 40th year, the SkillsUSA Council District 11 Championships provides students an opportunity to work alongside industry representatives and showcase their skills to the larger community by applying what they have learned in the classroom. Students competed in a variety of categories including HVAC, electrical wiring, carpentry, masonry, cyber security, the culinary arts and more.
The gold medal winners from the five schools that competed in Allentown earlier this month advance to April’s state competition in Hershey.

UGI served as the sponsor for the awards ceremony. In addition, UGI employees and father-and-son Wayne and Nick C. volunteered to help set up ahead of the competition. When Nick was a high school student, he participated in the SkillsUSA competition.
“This was a program my son competed in and at that time I saw the impact it had on kids in the trades industries. Volunteering was a way to pay it forward or a way to pay it back for me. Nick did very well in the competition and received several thousand dollars of tools. Here he is today using some of those skills for UGI,” said Wayne.
UGI Utilities is proud to support SkillsUSA’s efforts to foster the future workforce!
